Pascon were required to design, build and commission the connection of a 6.7MW generation site. This comprised of provision and installation of a 7km cable route and construction of an 11kv substation and then connecting on to the existing private network. As we carried out both the DNO and private elements of the works, this ensured that there was a seamless transition in ensuring the completion of the project successfully.
Working closely with the client, there was also an essential requirement to provide a consultative role throughout the duration of the project. The route in question posed a number of challenges including a bridge crossing, negotiating the route through both RSPB and agricultural land and also crossing a High Pressure gas main.
The CHP plant is designed to feed a large area of tomato growing glasshouses with both CO2, heat and a limited amount of power. The surplus energy is then exported back to the grid.
Pascon had to liaise with all of the stakeholders to ensure that all of the processes needed were completed on time. Our DNO expertise and assistance with legals were crucial to ensure that the connection date happened before the client tariff expired.
The Pascon team designed and installed a bespoke 11kV metered substation, carried out all of the excavations, reinstatement and laid the HV cable within the relevant timescales and budget.
