Customer: Primrose Solar
Project: 5MW Solar Farm Connection
Date: March 2016
Location: 10.3 Hectare site, Ashby Farm, Ashby De-La-Zouch, Leicestershire
Value: £1.2 Million
Pascon were required to design, build and commission the connection of a 5MW solar generation site. This comprised of provision and installation of a 2.5 kilometre cable route and construction of a WPD substation and then connecting on to the existing network.
Working closely with the client, there was also an essential requirement to provide a consultative role throughout the duration of the project
This solar farm was designed to feed 1200 homes with renewable power saving 2,150 tonnes of carbon dioxide a year.
Due to the cut -off date for government subsidies for large solar farms, Pascon had to work to strict timescales which posed a large challenge for our team.
Pascon had to liaise with the landowners and other stakeholders to ensure that all of the processes needed were completed on time.
The cable route in question posed some significant difficulties, not least of which was crossing the busy A42. This was resolved by in-depth negotiations with the Highways Authority to allow directional drilling to install the ducts for the cable.
The Pascon team delivered the detailed design, studies package, supply and installation of the 11kV metered substation, excavations, reinstatement and laid 2.5 kilometres of HV aluminium EPR Triplex cable on time and to budget.
